Geyser del Tatio & Geyser Blanco
🧭 Trip Overview
8 hours
Chile
Hotel pickup
This extended version of the El Tatio excursion adds Geyser Blanco, a smaller and far less visited geothermal field further along the altiplano. You leave San Pedro before sunrise and reach El Tatio at first light, when the cold air meets the hot vents and the steam is at its thickest. Fumaroles, boiling pools, and mineral-crusted ground stretch across a wide basin at 4,300 metres. After El Tatio, instead of heading straight back, the route continues to Geyser Blanco: a quieter site with its own hot springs and a different geology. The return drive crosses the altiplano through open grassland where vicuñas graze and the Andes fill the horizon. It is a longer day, but you see what most visitors never reach.
